Allaah's acts are not without wisdom

Question

As-salaamu 3laikum, We know that there is wisdom behind everything that Allah created. Does that imply that every small experience we have has a particular significance and importance which we cannot necessarily perceive? Or does it mean that in general there is a reason for everything that is present in creation, but that we may have experiences which are not particularly important? Jazaakum Allahu khairan

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

Everything in this universe, whether big or small, exists by the Will of Allaah. Allaah says (what means): {Indeed, all things We created with predestination.} [Quran 54:49] This is an all-inclusive rule without any exception. The acts of Allaah concerning His creation are not without wisdom; some people may know it and some may not know it. There is nothing that exists in vain. Allaah says (what means): {And We did not create the heaven and the earth and that between them aimlessly.} [Quran 38:27]

Ibn Taymiyyah may Allaah have mercy upon him said: "The majority of the Muslims from among the righteous predecessors and their successors held that Allaah creates with wisdom, and He commands with wisdom; this is the view of the Imaams of Fiqh and knowledge, and this is evidenced by the Quran, the Sunnah and sound reason. Allaah is thereby confirmed as being Wise. If one does not do things with wisdom, then he is not wise." [End of quote, summarized]

Furthermore, this wisdom is not only concerning worldly matters. There may be much wisdom related to the Hereafter in His judgments in religion and in the physical world. If a specific thing is insignificant in our view, this does not mean that it is actually insignificant or that Allaah's wisdom behind it is insignificant, let alone that there is no wisdom at all behind it. Suffice it to say that Allaah has said (what means): {When you received it with your tongues and said with your mouths that of which you had no knowledge and thought it was insignificant while it was, in the sight of Allaah, tremendous.} [Quran 24:15]

Finally, it should be pointed out that it is more proper for a Muslim to ask about matters which lead to rewardable action.

Allaah Knows best.
