Question
Is there an intermediate level between Hell and Paradise? Who are the People of Al-A‘raaf?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and messenger. There is no intermediate level between Hell and Paradise. People will either be admitted to Hell or to Paradise, since Allaah Says (what means):{A party will be in Paradise and a party in the Blaze.} [Quran 42:7] Before the final Judgment of Allaah is issued on each person, there will be a stage that is called Al-A‘raaf for those whose good and bad deeds are equal, and they will be detained there until Allaah issues His final Judgment regarding them.
