Men of the least rank in Paradise will have 70 Houris

Question

Is it true that whenever a man swears by divorce he loses one of his Houris in Paradise? How many Houris will a man have in Paradise?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

Swearing by other than the Names and Attributes of Allaah The Almighty is prohibited and violates the commandments of the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, who commanded that whoever takes an oath should do so by swearing in the name of Allaah, or remain silent. [Al-Bukhari and Muslim] Indeed, a Muslim should not become used to uttering what does not benefit him, and instead harms him.

With regard to whether swearing by divorce causes man to lose some of his Houris in Paradise, we know nothing about this issue, and such a matter can only be proven by the Quran and the Sunnah (Prophetic tradition).

As for a man's share of the Houris in Paradise, the number of man's wives in Paradise, as stated by Imaam Al-Iraaqi may Allaah have mercy upon him will be at least two from the women of the present life, and 70 from the Houris.

Allaah Knows best.
