Question
What was the reason behind giving Al-‘Aqeedah Al-Waasitiyyah its name?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.
Al-‘Aqeedah Al-Waasitiyyah was given that name because the man who came to Shaykh Al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah 
and asked him to compile a book on creed for him that he and his household could adhere to was from Waasit, a town in Ash-Shaam (Greater Syria).
