Some Muslim politicians in West encourage gay rights

Question

Assalaamu alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuhu. I am an Italian Muslim, praise be to Allaah. In our community, there are some people who have decided to pursue a political career in the political parties, and they now openly support the unions between gays and unmarried people. They do it with the votes in parliament and statements to the press and on social media. What is the Islamic ruling on this type of people who claim to be Muslim? May Allaah reward you.

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad, sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

We have previously stated Islam's stance towards what is called gays (homosexuals) in fatwas 81381 and 88137. The approval and encouragement of such a hideous sin is a grave and serious misdeed. Those who approve of it must be admonished and guided away from the path of ruin and doom to the path of salvation. The exchange of sincere advice among Muslims is enjoined in Islam. Tameem Ad-Daari, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated that the Prophet, sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said, "Religion is sincere advice." They said, "To whom, O Messenger of Allah?" He, sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said, "To Allah, to His Book, to His Messenger, to the Imaams of the Muslims and to their common folk." [Muslim]

Allah knows best.
