Apprehension contradicts true reliance on Allaah

Question

Sometimes I feel apprehensive about the future, despite the fact that I have a good job. How can I deal with such feelings?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and messenger.

A person must worry about his future in the Hereafter and about the kind of life that awaits him there, and whether he will be among the dwellers of Paradise or those of Hell. Allaah Says (what means): {A party will be in Paradise and a party in the Blaze.} [Quran 42:7] Thus, the believer must always remember death, the grave, the Reckoning and the Day of Judgment. This is indeed something that the believer must fear and his fear must always be mingled with hope in the Mercy and Pardon of Allaah.

Feelings of insecurity a person might have because of his fear of poverty, sickness and so on, contradict the attributes of a true believer whose heart is assured by mentioning Allaah and who is confident that Allaah supports His righteous slaves.

Therefore, you have to pursue the necessary means and leave the rest to Allaah, for He is Sufficient for us and the best Disposer of affairs. Allaah Knows best.
