Woman giving out food to fasting men

Question

Assalaamu alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuhu, Shaykh. Is it permissible for a woman to personally distribute foods, drinks, Miswaaks (tooth stick), or breakfast, etc. to men? I mean in general, so please advise; and if not, then please advise on whether this is allowed in Masjid Al-Haraam and Masjid An-Nabawi. Please, if possible, respond at your earliest possible convenience as Ramadan is near. May Allaah reward you, Shaykh.

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

There is nothing wrong – Allah willing – for a Muslim woman to distribute food and other things to the fasting people if she adheres to Islamic rules, such as decency, wearing the hijaab, avoiding mixing with men, and other things that may lead to temptation.

If there is no need for women to do that among men, then it is better for them to do so among women, and the men will distribute among men. This is safer, better, and farther from temptation and its causes.

Allah knows best.
