Seeking permission to use room for exams

Question

Assalaamu alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuhu. We are giving exams; on the first day, we obtained permission to wait in a room. On the other days, we did not ask permission. Do we need to ask permission everyday? Do we need a separate permission to turn on the lights in the room?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

You should have taken the permission to use the room during all those days unless the first permission implies in terms of meaning and custom that it is a permission for using the room for all the days.

We believe that their permission to give the exam in the room includes the permission in using the lights, if it is not known that they would object to that, because it is known that the students need lights in their exams, so the permission to use the room is enough for using all the utilities in the room, such as the light and the like.

Allah knows best.
