Question

Will flowers of this world, like, roses, jasmines, and orchids, be present in Paradise?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

Allah, the Exalted, honors His slaves with all types of bliss in Paradise. They will be granted whatever they desire of flowers, food, and fragrances. The believer shall find therein all that he desires. Allah, the Exalted, says (what means): {And therein is whatever the souls desire and (what) delights the eyes, and you will abide therein eternally.} [Quran 43:71]

Ibn Saʻdi may Allaah have mercy upon him wrote, "The term 'therein' refers to Paradise. 'Whatever the souls desire and delights the eyes' is a comprehensive description that includes all types of bliss, happiness, comfort to the eye, and joy to the heart. So everything that the souls desire of food, drink, clothing, and spouses, and all that the eyes desire of pleasant scenes, lush trees, and decorated buildings are prepared in Paradise for its dwellers in the best and most perfect manner."

These desired flowers in the worldly life cannot be compared to their counterparts in Paradise except in terms of their names. Ibn ʻAbbaas may Allaah be pleased with him said, "Nothing in Paradise resembles anything in the life of this world except in name." [Al-Bayhaqi - Al-Albaani graded it saheeh (sound)]

As-Sanʻaani may Allaah have mercy upon him wrote, "Nothing in Paradise resembles anything in this worldly life except in terms of the name; the pleasures in Paradise share with their worldly counterparts their names only, and they are fundamentally different in essence and nature..." [At-Tanweer Sharh Al-Jaamiʻ As-Sagheer]

Al-Munaawi may Allaah have mercy upon him wrote:

"Nothing in Paradise resembles anything in the life of this world except in name. This means that only the names are similar when it comes to what is in this worldly life and what is in Paradise. The pleasures, delights, and all things in Paradise are far superior to their counterparts in the worldly life; the scope of the difference between them is beyond the knowledge of human beings. The foods of Paradise, pleasures of sexual intercourse, and all the states therein share only the names with their worldly counterparts and are similar to them in some qualities and considerations. They are given the same names metaphorically, but they are different in the perfection of their essence."

Allah knows best.
