Question

Assalumu Alaikum wa rahmahtullah wa barakatuhu. I heard about the river Baydakh. I searched the internet for more knowledge about it but I can't find anything. Could you please tell me about it. I know it doesn't make me enter Jannah and avoid Hell but I am wondering if that is where the Hoor will grow. I am also wondering if that is where the inhabitants of Hell will be put into so they get purified before entering Jannah. Jazak Allahu Khair

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

It was stated in a Mawqoof tradition (a report stopped at the level of the Companion) narrated on the authority of Ibn ‘Abbaas, may Allaah be pleased with him, that the Hoor (maidens of Paradise) are created from the Baydakh River.

Another Hadeeth Marfoo‘ (directly attributed to the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention )) stated that Baydakh is a river in Paradise into which the martyrs will be dipped and then come out of it in their best image. It was narrated that a woman once related her vision to the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) and he confirmed it. Part of it was that: "Twelve men were then brought on with blood still gushing from their wounds. It was said, ‘Take them to the Baydakh River.’ They were dipped in it and came out with their faces as bright as the full moon.” [Ahmad and Ibn Hibbaan in his Saheeh, and Ibn Al-Qayyim said: “Its chain of narration meets the conditions stipulated by Muslim.”]

Neither this Hadeeth nor others – based on our research – mention that the Baydakh is the river in which the sinners from among the adherents to Tawheed will be dipped after they are taken out of Hellfire.

Allah Knows best.
