Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

We advise you to take the initiative and embrace the true religion of Allah before death comes to you unexpectedly while you are not upon the religion of Islam.

Islam is the only religion accepted by Allah, and only those who follow it will be saved in the Hereafter. So, testify to the truth - that there is no deity worthy of worship but Allah and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His Messenger. Abandoning sins or refraining from forbidden foods and drinks will not benefit you unless you are a Muslim who declares the testimony of faith.

The evidence for the truth of Islam and the prophethood of our Prophet Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, is widely available and accessible to anyone who sincerely seeks the truth. These proofs are clear and compelling to those who are honest in their search. There are many books and websites that present the proofs of the prophethood of Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, which you can refer to for further understanding and benefit.

As for forbidden drinks, they include intoxicants (all kinds of alcoholic drinks). An intoxicant is anything that intoxicates and clouds the mind. Anything that intoxicates in large amounts is also forbidden in small amounts. It is likewise forbidden to consume anything harmful or destructive, such as poison, or to use substances that resemble intoxicants, like well-known drugs. This prohibition is a form of divine protection for people - to safeguard their minds - as preserving the intellect is one of the highest objectives of Shariah (Islamic law).

Regarding forbidden foods, the most well-known are: dead animals (whether they have died naturally or have not been properly slaughtered according to the requirements of the Islamic law), blood, and the flesh of swine. It is also prohibited to consume anything harmful or repulsive, as a way of protecting human health and dignity.

Lastly, these matters are discussed in detail in the books of Islamic jurisprudence. If Allah blesses you with guidance and you enter Islam, it will be your duty to seek Islamic knowledge that will save you and bring you closer to Allah the Exalted and Almighty. Similarly, you should also ask Islamic scholars about any matter you find unclear.

We ask Allah to guide you.

Allah knows best.
