Taking others as helper or protector other than Allah

Question

What is the concern about Muslims calling others (e.g.: Anbiya and Auliya) other than Allah for certain things?

Answer

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.
Dear brother,
Seeking help from anyone (Prophet, angel, pious person, Wali) other than Allah is major Shirk (polytheism). Allah Says (interpretation of meaning): {And whoever invokes (or worships), besides Allâh, any other ilâh (god), of whom he has no proof, then his reckoning is only with his Lord. Surely! Al-Kâfirûn (the disbelievers in Allâh and in the Oneness of Allâh, polytheists, pagans, idolaters, etc.) will not be successful.}[23:117] Allah also says: {"And invoke not besides Allâh, any that will neither profit you, nor hurt you, but if (in case) you did so, you shall certainly be one of the Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrong-doers)."}[10:106].
The Prophet said: "If you are asking (for something) ask Allah if you are seeking help (from anyone), seek it from Allah" [Ahmad, Al-Tirmizi and Al Baihaqi]. The Prophet also said: "I shall not be called for help. Indeed, it is Allah The Almighty The Great Who should be called for help". [Al Tabarani]
Allah knows best.
