Ruling on men entering a women's wedding party

Question

Is it permissible for me to accompany my sister’s groom to the women's wedding party and then leave immediately, given that it is a women-only party that does not include intermixing between the two sexes at all? I, along with my brothers, will just walk the groom to my sister then leave. Is this permissible?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.

It is impermissible for you and your brothers to walk the groom to your sister if this would lead to looking at the women in that party; since they might be rather lax regarding adherence to the Islamic dress code, for women usually expose their adornments during such parties. Indeed, the convention of the groom entering into the women-only wedding party to take his bride is a disapproved custom that all Muslims should cease to follow.

The most appropriate act in this regard is for the bride to go out and meet her groom outside, away from the women in the party.

Allaah Knows best.
