Married to English Non-Muslim and Has Young Son

Question

I married an English lady 5 years ago and we have a young boy. My wife is not a Muslim). I started to pray and read more about our religion and Allah has is been so kind to me by lighting my way and my life. I spoke to her several times about Islam that she should convert to Islam but there is no hope. I don't know whether to stay with her or divorce her. If I divorce her she will keep the baby until he is ten and she might reflect on him or stop me from teaching him the meaning of our religion.

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

If the woman is non-Muslim and is not from the People of the Book then you should immediately separate from her. Being with her is pure Zina; we ask Allah to protect us.

It she is from the People of the Book (Christian or Jew) and she is chaste, then you may continue your life with her.

We even advise you not to divorce her. Probably the divorce will cause harm to your child and he may become far from the true religion.

Allah knows best.
