Do not hate all men for the mistake of one man

Question

I am a Muslim sister. My question is: my ex-husband really mentally abused me. I know its not good to hate all men for it but I cant help it. I need help. Is there anything from the Qur'an that I can say to get rid of this hate?

Answer

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions. We do not know any specific Du'a that could be supplicated in your situation. However, you make Du'a to Allah to take out the hatred you are feeling in yourself. You may ask Allah using His good and Noble Names and Attributes and your good deeds that were done for the Sake of Allah such as prayers, fasting, giving alms, etc. to have your supplications accepted. Have firm faith in Allah that He will answer your supplications and will make your problems easy. Recite Qur'an persistently since it contains power of healing. Ibn Majah reported from Ali (Radiya Allahu Anhu) that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said: The best remedy is reciting Qur'an. Though this Hadith is weak but there are other supporting proofs to it. Allah knows best.
