Taking photographs of humans as souvenirs

Question

Who are the contemporary scholars, preferably Salafis, who have allowed taking photographs of humans (no indecency, of course) for the sake of souvenirs?

Answer

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.

Muslim scholars have different opinions concerning the matter of photography. Some of them prohibited photography totally except within the limits of necessity such as identification pictures, etc. while others permitted it totally provided there is no nudity or uncovering of Awrah in the picture. Among those who permitted it with the above condition is Sheikh Dr. Yousuf al-Qardawi, Sheikh Muhammad Bin al-Uthaimin, al-Sheikh Mutawalli al-Sharawi, al-Sheikh Sayyed al-Sabiq and others.

Though Sheikh Muhammad Bin al-Uthaimin and others permitted photography but some of them do not allow pictures to be kept for memories.

Allah knows best.
