Adverse criticism of Islam compared to Christianity

Question

After experiencing life for over 50 years, I can honestly make the following observation (that I think is shared by many in "technologically and spiritually advanced" parts of the world: Islam has fostered hate, violence, war. Christianity has fostered love, kindness, peace.

Answer

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.

It is not fair for a person to make those kinds of judgements blindly without any evidence.

Islam is the religion of mercy, love, peace and the religion of all kind of praised manners and characters.

The conduct and manners of the Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) are the strongest evidence about this.

Allah Says (interpretation of meaning): {And We have sent you (O Muhammad SAW) not but as a mercy for the 'Alamîn (mankind, jinns and all that exists).}[21:107].

Allah further Says (interpretation of meaning): {…So destroy not yourself (O Muhammad SAW) in sorrow for them. Truly, Allâh is the AllKnower of what they do!}[35:8].

And Allah Says (interpretation of meaning): {It may be that you (O Muhammad SAW) are going to kill yourself with grief, that they do not become believers [in your Risalah (Messengership) and in your Message of Islâmic Monotheism].}[26:3].

In another verse, Allah Says (interpretation of meaning): {And by the Mercy of Allâh, you dealt with them gently….}[3:159].

Allah also Says (interpretation of meaning): {And verily, you (O Muhammad SAW) are on an exalted standard of character.}[68:8].

In addition to the above, Allah Ordained the Muslims to have wisdom when calling other people to Allah, and to be soft and tender when dealing with them.

Allah Says (interpretation of meaning): {Invite (mankind, O Muhammad SAW) to the Way of your Lord (i.e. Islâm) with wisdom (i.e. with the Divine Inspiration and the Qur'ân) and fair preaching, and argue with them in a way that is better.}[16:125].

Allah also Says (interpretation of meaning): {…had you been severe and harshhearted, they would have broken away from about you; so pass over (their faults), and ask (Allâh's) Forgiveness for them; and consult them in the affairs….}[3:159].

And it is impossible to mention all the Qur'an texts in this regard. Islam was distinguished for these manners, and it will still be until the day of judgement.

We have to know that it is the enemies of Islam who label Islam with violence, war and hate. On one hand they are confused about those who commit non-Islamic actions, and those who call to Allah with good manners and wisdom.

On the other hand, they mix between those who commit these non-Islamic actions and those who have a just cause fighting in order to regain possession of their land.

Anyway, in both cases, there is an injustice towards Islam.

Allah knows best.
