Question
Is blood screening or x-ray at medical laboratory for disease observation is the same as doing divination? I.e. look into the divining board.
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
These medical measures which are carried out by specialists in the field and with medical equipment, especially designed for that purpose, are based on scientific facts. This is not like the magicians and fortune-tellers who claim to know the unseen, as this is just guessing and is not based on realistic foundations. The screening and examinations mentioned in the question are useful and beneficial for people with the will of Allaah. The religion of Allaah does not prevent us from benefiting from what is useful and beneficial. On the contrary, it urges people to do so.
