Question
Is it permissible for a Muslim girl to dance among females? If a girl says that she only dances very occasionally (wedding and parties, etc.) in front of females and her female cousins and friends, and solely without any bad intentions but just for fun, then is marrying such a girl allowed? Please respond in detail.
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
We have already issued Fatwa 84246 clarifying the ruling on a woman who dances in front of females and that it is permissible under some conditions, so please refer to it.
If the woman is religious and has a good moral character then it is not only permissible to marry her, rather it is desirable to marry her. Dancing with other females or alone is not a reason for not marrying her.
To conclude, please refer to Fatwa 85082 on the characteristics of a woman whom we are urged to marry in Islam.
