Every person will be resurrected according to the deed he died upon

Question

Will a person on the Day of Judgement be accounted for only the age around which he died, whether he was old or young?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.

Texts prove that the people will be resurrected upon the deeds they last performed in this worldly life and the age they died. The Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: "Every person will be resurrected according to the deed he died upon." [Muslim] When the people of Paradise will enter Paradise and the denizens of Hellfire will enter Hellfire, their images and ages will change, and they will be thirty three years of age. The Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: "The people of Paradise will enter Paradise unclothed, their eyes darkened with kohl, aged thirty or thirty three years old.” [Ahmad and At-Tirmithi] Furthermore, the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said about the non-Muslims: "The tooth of a non-Muslim is as big as the mountain of Uhud, and the thickness of his skin is the distance that could be travelled by a quick horse rider in three days." [Muslim] At-Tirmithi may Allaah have mercy upon him reported the narration with the following wording: "The thickness of the flesh of a non-Muslim is equal to forty two cubits length, and his tooth is as big as the mountain of Uhud, and his place in Hellfire is like the distance from Makkah to Madeenah."

Allaah Knows best.
