Were Waraqah Ibn Nawfal & An-Najaashi Muslims?

Question

Assalmu Alikum, what is the consensus of the scholars on An-Najashi and Waraqa ibn Nawfal, are they considered Muslims? JAK

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

Both Waraqah Ibn Nawfal and An-Najaashi (Negus) are Muslims. As for Waraqah may Allaah be pleased with him the Porphet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) confirmed that he is one of the people of Paradise in a Hadeeth narrated by Al-Haakim may Allaah have mercy upon him on the authority of 'Aa'ishah, may Allaah be pleased with her. The Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) has been authentically reported to have said that none enters Paradise except a Muslim person, as in the Hadeeth narrated by Al-Bukhari and Muslim may Allaah have mercy upon them on the authority of Abu Hurayrah, may Allaah be pleased with him.

As for An-Najaashi may Allaah be pleased with him the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) sadly reported his death when he died and prayed with his companions may Allaah be pleased with them the funeral prayer for him and ordered them to ask forgiveness for him. This was also narrated by Al-Bukhari and Muslim may Allaah have mercy upon them on the authority of Abu Hurayrah may Allaah be pleased with him.

As for the concensus of the scholars, we didn't find anyone to have reported it, and we found none to have mentioned a view regarding them contradicting the view mentioned here.

Allaah Knows best.
