Accepted Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.

If this son is adult and able to earn his living, then his maintenance is not due on his father. Hence, if his father commands him to leave the house, it becomes incumbent upon him to obey him and leave the house.

However, it is due on the son to be dutiful to his father and obedient to him in what is permissible. No doubt, dutifulness to parents is one of the most obligatory duties, whereas undutifulness to them is one of the major sins. For further benefit, see Fatwa 152977.
