His stepmother behaves badly towards his imprisoned father

Question

My situation is that my father is currently in jail, living with my grandmother(Father's mother). The issue is that my Step-mother has abused my Father(Currently still-married to her) over the phone whilst he is in jail, and has wasted part of my Father's wealth without his permission on needless un-Islamic clothing's, materials and her own families 'debt's' despite her being already taken care of by the Government and also having a job along side it. My Father is not pleased with her, and has stated to I and My grandmother specifically not to lend her any more money and that the relation is to be ended when he is out of jail. I'm particularly upset and angry, at the way she has been acting and would like to know what a son who is of adult age can do to deal with this problem in an Islamic way?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

You should give advice to your stepmother and remind her of the great right that her husband has on her and that it is forbidden for her to disobey him or humiliate him. You should also clarify to her that it is forbidden to indulge in the wealth of her husband without any right. You should exert the possible means to prevent her from taking your father’s wealth unlawfully.

Finally, you should supplicate Allaah to guide your step-mother and protect you from her evil.

Allaah Knows best.
