Question
Assalaamu alaykum Shaykh. I was wondering; in a regular room for sleeping and maybe even cooking, where there is a basin from which one can get flowing water and one makes wudu in this basin, washes parts of his body and brushes his teeth, and so on; is the prayer made in this room invalid? May Allaah reward you.
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah and that Muhammad 
is His slave and Messenger.
There is no problem with praying in this room, and nothing of what you have mentioned constitutes a religious impediment to pray therein. We would like to warn you, dear sister, of the evil consequences of waswaas (obsessive whisperings) in matters of ritual purity or any other matter. Verily, their evils are enormous when a person yields to them.
You should know that the basic principle is that all things are ritually pure unless proven otherwise; similarly, the basic principle is that the prayer is valid wherever performed, as evidenced by the hadeeth that reads, "The earth has been made for me (and for my followers) a place for praying and a means to perform tayammum (dry ablution), therefore anyone of my followers can pray wherever he is whenever the time of prayer is due." [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]
The basic principle is established (purity) unless the impurity of a given place is evidenced by religious texts.
