Impermissibility of praying in a garment stained with drops of urine

Question

Is a little urine pardoned, like a drop of urine on one's clothes?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.

If one knows that his clothes are stained with urine, even a small drop, he is not allowed to pray as long as the case is as such. He should remove it then pray because he is ordered to do so as Allaah The Almighty Says (what means): {And your clothing purify.} [Quran 74:4] This applies in case the questioner intended to ask about the ruling on praying with a small drop of urine on one’s clothing. However, if he intended to ask about the ruling on staying with this impurity (Najaasah) on his clothes without praying while wearing it, the answer is that it is better for the Muslim to maintain his inward and outward purity. This is the guidance of the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, and his noble companions; nevertheless, he is not sinful for not removing the impurity as long as he does not pray in the garment stained with it.

Allaah Knows best.
