Answering question about mother's occupation is not Diyaathah (lack of jealousy for one's womenfolk)

Question

Assalaamu alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuhu. I am studying and have been redoing my year many times over now, and I am studying with a teacher. My question is that when we were studying, he asked me questions using examples about my familly; he wants to know about that; he asked me how many we are, what my mum does, if she has a job or not, and I answered that she stays at home. I think that he asked me that in order to know if we are capable to pay him for teaching me. My question is: am I a Dayyooth (cuckold) for having answered him and not stopping him? And what should I do now? I still have many more lessons remaining with him. Please do not refer me to another fatwa. And may Allaah reward you.

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

Your answer to your teacher does not involve being a Dayyooth (a man who approves indecency committed by the women under his guardianship and is not jealous with regard to their honor) – we seek refuge in Allah from this – and you are not sinful for having answered him.

In principle, you should consider that the intention of your teacher in asking the question was good and not think evil of him without any valid reason.

You should beware of Waswasah (obsessive whispers) as they lead to unpleasant consequences.

Allah knows best.
