The Ruling on Storing and Shelving Lawful Items

Question

Asc to whoever is answering this question.I am an 18 year old male living in America. I want to get this job at a local store near me but I don't know if its halal or not. I would be a floor/shelf stocker, putting makeup, vitamins, and bodycare products (like shampoo or soap) on the shelves to be sold. I'm asking if it would it be haram for me to work this job and obtain this income because I don't know if stocking makeup/bodycare to be sold is haram or not. I'll drop a link to the job description here for you to look at as well: https://careers.wholefoodsmarket.com/stores/global/en/job/WHFOGLOBALREQ20210808984/Whole-Body-Team-Member-Body-Care-Makeup-Vitamins-Nutrition-Stocker-Inventory-Floor-Service-Part-TimeThank you for answering!

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

Man is allowed to join any profession as long as it does not include something unlawful or help him directly and intentionally do it.

Storing cosmetics and the other lawful items used for body care and placing them on shelves for sale does not include any forbidden act, nor does it help the person to intentionally do what is unlawful, and thus it is lawful. This is actually the opinion adopted by the 5th cycle of the Assembly of the Muslim Jurists in America on the controlling rule of forbidden support.

Accordingly, you are allowed to join this profession and benefit from the money you gain from it.

Allah knows the best.
