Ruling on entrusting children to a nursery that feeds them with what is impermissible

Question

Alsalamualaikom,I live in the United States and I have to work long hours so my 1 year old baby daughter started going to daycare from 8am till 6pm. They give them meals at daycare that include chicken and turkey that are not slaughtered according to Islamic standards (not zabiha halal certified), but no pork. Is it permissible for her to eat this chicken and turkey since she is still a baby, or is it considered haram?Thank you, jazakum Allahu khairan

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His Slave and Messenger.

It is not permissible to feed children what is forbidden. An indication of this is the prohibition by the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, for Al-Hasan ibn 'Ali to eat from the charity.

In the Two Authentic Books of Hadith, it is narrated from Abu Hurayra may Allaah be pleased with him that Al-Hasan ibn 'Ali took a date from the charity and put it in his mouth. The Messenger of Allah sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said, “Throw it! Don't you know that we do not eat charity?”

As for meat known to be slaughtered in a non-permissible way, such as electrocution and the like, there is no doubt that it is forbidden.

Therefore, it is not allowed for you to entrust your daughter to a nursery that feeds her with the meat of a dead animal.

Allah knows best.
