Question

My daughter name is Tehreema which I keep on Sura Tahrim? Is that ok or should I change it?

Answer

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.
It is likable to give ones children names that have good connotations. Abu Dawood reported that the Prophet changed the name of a female who was called A'as siya (the sinful). He said: "You are Jemila (the beautiful)". What is apparent for us is that the name "Tahrima" is not a good name. Actually it is similar to A'a siya in the meaning as whoever commits Haram is also "sinful".
So, we think that if you change her name that will be better. You could, for instance, call her after one of the Prophet's wives or daughters like: Aisha, Khadija, Rughaya, Fatima, Zeinab, Safiya or Umm Kalthoum.
Allah knows best.
