Having Dua' accepted
Fatwa No: 83421

What do you do if you want your Du'a to be accepted?

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the World; and blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.
There are many ways to have ones supplications (Dua') responded to Allah. Some of them are as follows:
1. The supplication is responded to when it is from a Muslim for his brother in his absence as the Prophet said: "If a Muslim supplicates Allah for his Muslim brother (without the knowledge of this brother), Allah answers his supplications. An Angel says to him Amen, and says: May it be for you as well". [Abu Dawood and Ibn Majah]
2. Make Du'a during special times such as in the night of al-Qadar (the night mentioned in the Qur'an and which is better than 1000 months), in the last part of every night, during Friday, between the time of Adhan and Iqama, at the time when rain falls, when Muslims and the Kuffars combat each other during war, supplication near Kabah, during a journey and while fasting. Sometimes Allah favors some pious people by responding to their supplications as He accepted the Dua' of Saad Ibn Abi Waqqas.
The person who wishes to have his supplication accepted should consume only Halal earnings since the Du'a of the person who eats from Haram earnings is seldom accepted by Allah.
Allah knows best.
