Wife shares her money with her university-student husband

Question

I am a student in one of the USA universities, and married to an American woman. My wife shares her money with me as she is working and I am a student. What are the restrictions of using her money if she supports me by her own will and without any pressure from me and she knows that I am going back to my country after I get my degree?

Answer

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions. If your wife willingly shares her money with you then it is permissible to use her money. Allah Says (interpretation of meaning) regarding her bridal money that is her own money: {…but if they, of their own good pleasure, remit any part of it to you, take it, and enjoy it without fear of any harm (as Allâh has made it lawful).}[4:4]. The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said: Property of a Muslim is not Halal unless he permits it willingly . [ Ahmad ] However, there are some other important matters we like to inform you about. 1. Basically living in a non-Muslim country is not permissible except for any forceful necessity. For more details, please read the Fatwa: 81642. 2. As for marrying a woman with the intention of divorcing her after a while, please read the Fatwa: 83151 and 83457. 3.
