Virginity after sex

Question

If a virgin girl during the time between her Nikah and Walimah has sexual relations with her husband is she still considered a virgin? How many days is she allowed if she becomes a co-wife, three or seven days?

Answer

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions. As soon as the husband has sexual intercourse with his wife and deflowers her then she is no longer virgin. The Fuqaha state that "the non-virgin lady is the one who was deflowered in a legal marriage or during illicit sex". As for the period which the man should spend with his new bride (second wife), it is three days. After that period he will have to give each wife her equal share. Anas said: It is from the Sunnah that the man who marries a virgin as his second wife, stays with her for seven days, then allots each one of them (his wives) an equal amount of time. And if he marries a divorcee or widow he stays with her for three days, then allots each wife an equal amount of time. [ al-Bukhari and Muslim ] al-Haithami said: The virgin is especially allotted seven days with no compensation. Allah knows best.
