Wants to have a child by an Islamic method

Question

I am married woman with 28 years-old. We got married 11 years before and we do not have child. The problem is on my side, recently (3 years before) I got pregnant but the embryo started developing in on the left side fallopian tube itself and doctor operated and removed the embryo. Due to this operation left side of my ovary and fallopian tube is damaged and doctor told me that fertilization through left side ovary is not possible and right side ovary is not effective since they removed some clusters from my right side ovary. After that my ovum development from right side is not proper (this problem was even before the operation).
I read Fatwa on your website about the egg transplant from other women is not permitted in Islam. But I want to have a child in permissible way. My question is this.
Can I ask my husband to marry another woman and with her permission, can I borrow her ovum (if she wishes to give me) and with my husband sperm if I got pregnant, is it permissible in Islam?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

The Islamic Fiqh Committee in its third conference held in Jordan in 1986 issued a report prohibiting 5 kinds of artificial fertilizations among which is the situation that you inquired about.

The report stated in the fifth kind [or fertilization]: "To carry out an outside fertilization between the sperm of the husband and the egg of the wife and then put the fertilized entity in the womb of the second wife." This is exactly the artificial fertilization that you are inquiring about.

So we advise you to be patient and supplicate Allaah as much as possible to bless you with a righteous progeny, as Allaah is cable of everything in the Heavens and the Earth. Moreover, sometimes the diagnosis is not correct, so it might not be correct that your ovaries are not able of conceiving a child; it might be that there is still a possibility of becoming pregnant.

Allaah Knows best.
