Her husband speaks badly about her family

Question

My husband does not like my family, I do well with his family, but he forbids my family from visiting me, they do not approach him, and they are in another country. Now my concern, is that everytime we have a fight, he begins talking badly about my family and insults them badly to the point i feel hating him, even though the subject of the fight has nothing to do with them. I lost appetite of wanting to have sex with him, I let him have it, but I don;t like to do it or enjoy it, I have sex with him only because it is his right.how should I handle?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

Nenetheless, there are two more matters that should be mentioned here:

1- You did well by responding to your husband's request to sleep with you even though you were not interested in that. Indeed, the Sharee'ah orders the wife to respond to her husband when he calls her to bed. The Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: "When a man calls his wife to his need, she must come to him even if she is on the furnace." [At-Tirmithi]

The Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) also said: "If a husband calls his wife to bed (to have sexual intercourse with her) and she refuses, and he goes to bed angry with her, the angels will curse her until she gets up in the morning." [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

2- If a wife dislikes her husband and fears that she will be neglegent about his obligatory rights on her, then she may ask him for Khul’, like the wife of Thaabit Bin Qays did with her husband. The Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) asked her: "Will you return to him his garden [which she received as a dowry from him]?" She replied: "Yes". Then the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) ordered Thaabit may Allaah be pleased with him to accept the garden and to divorce her." [Al-Bukhari]

Allaah Knows best.
