Finding dimes everywhere in the house after grandmother's murder

Question

Assalamu Alaikom, I was having a conversation with one of my non-Muslim family members about spirits recently and I would like to know what you think about this. My grandmother was murdered in 1999 and since then my Aunt has been finding dimes everywhere. This is not a joke. I was with her once when she found a dime in a place it should not have been. A few weeks ago, she had eaten her dinner and left the plate in her room. She fell asleep and when she awoke there was a dime in her plate. And there was no one in her home besides her. The same evening she cleaned out the fridge and when she checked it later there was a shiny dime inside. She truly believes my grandmother (or even a nephew who comitted suicide) is talking to her from the "other side". A psychologist even confirmed that finding the dimes means a loved one is trying to contact her from the "other side". I would like to know what Islam says about this. And if the dimes are coming from a spirit, how do they have access to material things like dimes? JAzak Allah Khair!!

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.

It is probable that what your maternal aunt finds is something which the devils bring, and you have to be keen in guiding her to Islam and convincing her about it. The Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: “I swear by Allaah! If Allaah guides one single man (to Islam) by your efforts, that will be better for you than possessing an abundant number of red she camels (a very expensive breed of camels).” [Al-Bukhari]

To protect oneself from the devils, one should believe and have trust in Allaah, read chapter Al-Baqarah (i.e. Quran 2) at home and say the legislated mention of Allaah and the Prophetic supplications in seeking refuge in Allaah from evil. Allaah Says about the devil (what means): {Verily! He has no power over those who believe and put their trust only in their Lord (Allaah).}[Quran 16:99]. Furthermore, the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: “Indeed the devil flees from the house where chapter Al-Baqarah is being read." [Muslim]

As regards the dead people, they can not come to distribute money on the live people.
