Question

what is the meaning of my name?(shamsuddin)? about my luck why it is not good?what ever i am trying to do .it dosnt work?so..plz find out for me

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.

"Shamsuddin" is a compound name composed of two words "Shams" and "Din" [or Deen]; many people name their children with this name as a way of being optimistic. However, the scholars may Allaah have mercy upon them disliked naming children with names compounded with "Din", like Shamsuddin, Noureddin, and so forth. It might be that the reason why these names are disliked is because it entails praising oneself. Some scholars may Allaah have mercy upon them are of the view that it is forbidden to name a child with a name compounded with Shams, whereas some others permitted it.

As regards your statement "Why is it that I am unlucky?", the answer is that not achieving what one wants does not mean that a person is unlucky. If you count the bounties which Allaah blessed you with, you will realize that you are lucky in comparison to those who are lacking these bounties. A person who has the bounties of religion, hearing, sight, sound mind and knowledge and other bounties, is lucky in comparison to the one who does not have them. Allaah Says (what means): {If you count the Blessings of Allaah, never will you be able to count them. Verily! Man is indeed an extreme wrongdoer, - a disbeliever (an extreme ingrate, denies Allaah's Blessings by disbelief, and by worshipping others besides Allaah, and by disobeying Allaah and His Prophet Muhammad).}[Quran 14:34].

You should also know that the success and failure which happen to a person are predestined by Allaah and Allaah does that for a particular wisdom; Allaah Says (what means): {Indeed, all things We created with predestination.}[Quran 54:49].

Furthermore, Allaah tests the people with whatever He wants so that He will know who is truthful and who is a liar. Sometimes Allaah tests some people by blessing them with bounties, and some others He tests them with poverty and diseases and so forth. In both cases, a person must be patient and steadfast in these tests so that he may achieve Allaah's Pleasure and be admitted to Paradise. Besides, a person should always look to the people who are lesser than him in status so that he would really realize the bounties of Allaah on him.
