I am a military aviation student. One day, during last Ramadan, I was supposed to undertake pilot training in the morning. Therefore, I did not fast that day. What happened was that the weather changed and caused the training sortie to be cancelled, and I did not take my flight. What is the ruling? Shall I offer an expiation? I would like to inform.. More

I have a son who is 13 years old. He sometimes sleepwalks. He usually wakes up after the Fajr prayer time and unconsciously drinks water. What makes me sad is that he does this in Ramadan too. When I ask him in the morning whether he woke up and drank, he replies in the negative and swears that he is not aware of such a thing. I only find out that he.. More

I am a 20-year-old girl. I reached puberty when I was 13. I started wearing the hijab when I was 15. I used to not fast in Ramadan regularly back then. About two years later (as far as I remember), I started to be a committed Muslim. However, I did not observe the days of fasting that I missed in Ramadan back in those days. I started to make up for.. More

If someone has to observe types of expiation that are prescribed for breaking the fast, abandoning the prayer, or mistaken murder, and he then dies before observing such obligations, would he be exempted and forgiven by merely seeking Allah's forgiveness or by repentance?

I am required to feed poor people as expiation for the delay of observing fasts that I have missed in Ramadan. I do not know poor or needy people in my area. However, I know some people who are in debt and others who need money to build a house or get married and the like. Can I pay the expiation to these people? I am a married woman. Can I pay the.. More

Someone forgetfully broke his fast in Ramadan. Even though he remembered he was fasting, he did not continue his fast the rest of the day. He thought that since he had broken his fast, even if forgetfully, then he did not have to resume it for the rest of the day after remembering it. He was ignorant about that. What is the ruling?

Assalaamu alaykum. We know that the rulings concerning the fasting of the sick is that if the sickness is chronic, then the fasting person only needs to feed a poor person for each missed day of Ramadan without making up for the missed days. But if a sickness is temporary, the scholars say that the sick person has to make up for all the missed days.. More

Assalaamu alaykum, Shaykh. I made hijrah to a Muslim country 1,5 years ago, praise be to Allaah, but the problem is that last Ramadan, I tried to fast, but I could only fast one day, and that was a day where I was forced to stay in bed all day. Every time I would stand up, I would almost faint because it is so hot here, and if I drink, I become very.. More

Assalaamu alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuhu Shaykh. This Ramadhan, I checked on the 14th day of my menses, a few mins before Fajr, and I strongly felt that was pure and decided to fast. Then, after the Fajr, I decided to make sure by rechecking the purity and found impurity so I broke my intention. Did I do wrong? I had to take a decision and.. More

I am a Muslim woman living in Romania. Our local leaders decided to follow Turkey in their (astronomical) calculation of the beginning and the end of Ramadan. This year, they decided the date of Eid Al-Fitr on the 26th of Ramadan. They explained, after numerous people asked about it, that they are following a fatwa from the European Council. They declared.. More
