Fatwa CenterHis wife goes to weddings which include unlawful things
Question
asalaam alaikum wa rahamt-ullah barakatuh,i have been into arguments with my wife several times about her going to weddings.I told her she cannot attend to any weddings because of the music playing,dancing,and some woman wearing improper clothings.But my wife argues with me telling me she does'nt do any of those things,so i tell her wat's the purpose of her going to those kind of places,please help me with my problem,kazakum allah khar.
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad 
is His slave and Messenger.
It is not permissible for your wife to go to such places or any other places without your permission. She is even more prohibited to go to these places if they include unlawful things, rather in such a case it is forbidden for her to go to them in principle; for more benefit, please refer to Fataawa 87382 and 22806.
Therefore, we advise you to admonish your wife in a good and gentle manner and clarify to her that the wife is religiously ordered to obey her husband in what is permissible, and if she does so, she gets closer to Allaah. If she stops going to these places or going out without your permission, then all praise be to Allaah but if she persists in doing so, she is a disobedient wife.
