Her one-year-old daughter cries a lot and hardly sleeps at night

Question

Asalamualaikum sister/brother, I have a child who is turning one year next week. Ever since she was born she never had proper sleep in the night. Instead she cries out a lot and becomes boystous when it is time to sleep, And often goes to sleep by 0400 am in the morning. I have tried and tried my best to get her in track but is just never happens. Now i am also loosing my patience and often feel like beating and refrained myself from doing it with the greatest of difficulty. She is pretty naughty even during the day and shouts out loud and i feel a big differece between the kids i see of her age who are often quiet and more settled. I recite the ayat Kurshi, Fatiha and the Kul surah's and blow on her before i try to put her to sleep. If there is any other recital that i can do which will help her calm down and be peaceful ? I am really not complaining about the child. Alhamdullilah i have been granted by the almighty one of the greatest blessings , I am only trying to calm her down and make her more peaceful. truly appreciate your response on the above.

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

First of all, we ask Allaah to cure your daughter and keep her tranquil, and protect her from evil and tribulation.

You should know, dear sister, that it is not permissible for you to beat your daughter at this age whatever the reason, because she does not realize that there is any reward or punishment, so punishing her is an injustice and this is not permissible.

Therefore, we advise you to do the following two points:

1- You should always perform Ruqyah on her, because what is happening to her may be due to an evil eye or envy. Indeed, we have already issued Fataawa 88705, 85500 and 82918 clarifying the method of performing Ruqyah.

2- You should expose this matter to a pediatrician as there might be a physical cause behind her weeping and shouting in this continuous manner.

Allaah Knows best.
