Only part of her dream about her Christian boyfriend came true

Question

Assalam aleikum, I'm thankful to Allah because I have been experiencing true dreams once in a while, I even got an opportunity of seeing the Prophet (pbuh) on one of my dreams. My story begins like this...I regret saying this but I had a Christian boyfriend. I was with him for around 2 years and my intention was for him to become a Muslim and later get married to him. I was ready to take him to Islamic colleges for him to learn Islam before we get married, but all along he was not aware of all these plans I had for him. I came to have a dream that he is telling me that he is going to travel and when he comes back he will marry me. I quickly woke up from this dream and it was about 3.15am and my heart was beating very fast. The next day I was informed that my boyfriend had travelled and the dream I had the previous night crossed my mind that it was a true dream ( but only the travelling part has come true). He came back from his journey and several months later I came to find out that he has been cheating on me with another woman.I broke up with him and since then I have never heard from him again. What is disturbing me is the dream I had..can a dream be part true and part false? What did the dream mean? please help. Its around 3 years since I had the dream but it is still clear in my mind. Can the second part of the dream come true later?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

Whoever sees the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) in his real image in a dream, then he has indeed seen him because the devil can not take the Prophet’s image as confirmed by him sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ). Indeed, we clarified this in Fataawa 84858 and in dreams">91030.

This matter may incite you to take the initiative to repent and be steadfast on righteousness because you committed a sin by establishing a relationship with that young man and this is forbidden in Islam as we clarified in Fatwa 81356.

Therefore, you should cut the relationship with that man and guard your heart from being attached to him. How do you find it strange for him to befriend another woman than yourself while he did the same with you? This is what such people do: they exploit the affection of the woman is order to trap her into their tricks and achieve their purpose, so you should fear Allaah and be alert.

Hence, we advise you to look for a pious man who would marry you and help you in your religious matters. In fact, there are many such pious men. Also, we draw your attention to the fact that it is permissible for a woman to look for a husband provided that the Islamic etiquettes are met; for more benefit in this regard, please refer to Fatwa 82471. You may also seek the help of some righteous sisters in this regard.

As regards the dream, we advise you not to take it into consideration at all and you should not busy yourself thinking about it. In general, part of a dream may come true and the other part may not come true. The devil may be the reason. ‘Aa’ishah may Allaah be pleased with her said ''People asked the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) about magicians, thereupon the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said to them: ''They are nothing.’’ They said: ‘‘O Prophet of Allaah, they sometimes say something and it comes true. Then the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: ''That word is from the truth and the jinn grabs it and puts it in the ear of his ally like the sound of a chicken and they mix with it more than one hundred lies."

Allaah Knows best.
