Mere intention of nullifying ablution does not nullify it

Question

Assalaamu alaykum. If a person intends to nullify his ablution by using the toilet or passing wind, for example, but does do so, is his ablution null purely based on the fact that he intended to break it? May Allaah bless you.

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad, sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

The mere intention of nullifying the ablution does not nullify it as long as the person does not actually nullify it by actually passing wind or do anything else that nullifies it. For more benefit, please refer to fatwa 84093.
