Removal of hair growing due to medical treatment

Question

I am undergoing treatment for some hormonal imbalances. Due to the treatment I have some hair growing on my hands. Is it permissible for me to remove this hair? Kindly advise in light of Hadith and Sunnah.

Answer

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.

Removing hair from hands, legs and rest of the body is permissible for men and women since there is no evidence that prevents it.

As for the hair of eyebrows, removing it is forbidden. The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) cursed those who do so. Ibn Masoud said: Imams Bukhari and Muslim narrated that Ibn Masood said: "Allah curses those ladies who practice tattooing and those who get themselves tattooed, and those ladies who remove the hair from their faces and those who make artificial spaces between their teeth in order to look more beautiful whereby they change Allah's creation."

Allah knows best.
