Question

We heard the wooden utensils are Haraam. But what about the use of wooden spoons for non sticky utensils. Because can't use the usually steel or aluminum spoons in such.

Accepted Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.

We have not come across any statement of scholars that wooden utensils are forbidden; rather they have stated that it is permissible to use them. For instance Ibn Qudaamah after mentioning the prohibition of using golden and silver utensils, said: ‘As regards all other utensils, it is permissible to use them, like wooden, pottery and leather utensils, and it is not disliked to use any of them according to the view of the majority of the scholars.’

Therefore, there is no harm, Allaah willing in using these wooden spoons.
